Launch of the Energy Master Plan
The launch of the Kinsale P17 Energy Master Plan took place on Saturday 6th November in the Temperance Hall, Kinsale.
The Mayor of County Cork Gillian Coghlan introduced the event which celebrated the conclusion of this phase of the plan for the transition to sustainable energy for the locality.
Cork Energy Consultancy displayed the results of their analysis from auditing various buildings around the district and discussed actions the community could take to switch to more sustainable forms of energy production and usage. These included a home retrofit program, agroforestry, improved cycling infrastructure, solar panel energy generation on farms, businesses, and residential units and into the future a community owned energy project also.
Energy companies displayed the latest upgrades people could make to their houses and local residents signed up to make their houses warmer, cosier and more energy efficient on the day while gaining an extra discount by going through the Kinsale Community Energy Project scheme.
